Your Press Nails Fit Guide
Press-On Nail Size Guide
Finding the right size helps your press-on nails look more natural, feel more comfortable, and stay in place better. Use this guide to understand our sizing options and measure your nails before ordering.
If you are between two sizes, we recommend sizing up and gently filing the sides for a better fit.
Why Size Matters
A Better Fit Starts with the Right Size
Choosing the correct nail tip size helps your press-on nails fit comfortably and look more natural on your hands.
If the nail tip is too small, it may not fully cover your natural nail and can feel tight or look uneven. If it is too large, it may overlap your skin or sidewalls and feel uncomfortable.
For the best result, measure the widest part of each natural nail and compare your measurements with our size chart below.
Quick Sizing Tips
- Measure each nail at the widest point.
- Use millimeters for the most accurate result.
- If you are between sizes, choose the larger size.
- You can gently file the sides of a larger tip for a better fit.
- Do not choose a tip that is too small, as it may pop off more easily.
Choose Your Product Type
Machine-Made vs Handmade Press-On Nails
Different press-on nail types may come with different sizing formats. Please check the product details before placing your order.
Machine-Made Press-On Nails
Machine-made press-on nail sets usually include 24 or 30 tips in a full range of sizes from thumb to pinky.
These sets are designed to fit many different nail widths, so you can choose the best-fitting tip for each finger at home.
Best for:
- Beginners
- Customers unsure about their exact size
- Customers with uncommon nail sizes
- Anyone who prefers flexible DIY sizing
Handmade & Semi-Handmade Press-On Nails
Handmade and semi-handmade press-on nail sets usually include 10 tips, made according to standard size sets such as XS, S, M, or L.
Each set includes one tip for each finger, so you will need to choose the correct size before placing your order.
Best for:
- Customers who want a more precise fit
- Customers who already know their nail measurements
- Custom or higher-end press-on nail sets
- Personalized manicure looks

Standard Size Chart
Use the chart below to choose the closest size for your natural nails. All measurements are in millimeters and refer to the width of your natural nail at the widest point.
We also include standard nail tip numbers, such as #1 or #5, which are often engraved on the underside of the tips. Tip numbers may vary slightly depending on nail shape and supplier batch.
| Size | Thumb | Index | Middle | Ring | Pinky |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 14mm (#4) | 10mm (#8) | 11mm (#7) | 10mm (#8) | 8mm (#10) |
| S | 15mm (#3) | 11mm (#7) | 12mm (#6) | 11mm (#7) | 9mm (#9) |
| M | 16mm (#2) | 12mm (#6) | 13mm (#5) | 12mm (#6) | 10mm (#8) |
| L | 17mm (#1) | 13mm (#5) | 14mm (#4) | 13mm (#5) | 11mm (#7) |
Note: Measurements are approximate and may have a 1–2mm variance due to manual measurement or product style. Tip numbers may also vary slightly depending on the nail shape, such as almond, coffin, square, oval, or stiletto.
Measuring Method
How to Measure Your Nail Size
You can measure your natural nails at home using a flexible measuring tape, a straight ruler, or a small strip of paper.
- Start with clean natural nails. Remove polish or product if needed.
- Measure the widest part. Place the tape or ruler across the widest part of your natural nail.
- Record the width in millimeters. Measure each finger separately.
- Match your measurements. Compare your numbers with the size chart above.
- Size up if between sizes. A slightly larger tip can be filed down, while a smaller tip may not cover the nail properly.
If you already own press-on nails that fit well, you may also check the tiny number engraved on the underside of the tip and use it as a reference.

Simple Measuring Alternative
No Measuring Tape? Use Paper or Tape
If you do not have a flexible measuring tape, you can still measure your nail width using a small piece of paper or clear tape.
Step 1
Place a small strip of paper or clear tape across the widest part of your natural nail.
Step 2
Mark both side edges of your nail with a pen or fine marker.
Step 3
Lay the paper or tape flat and measure the distance between the two marks in millimeters.
Size Recommendation
If your measurements match different size sets, choose the size that fits most of your fingers best.
If one or two nails are slightly larger, you may size up and gently file the sides of the tips for a more comfortable fit.
For custom or handmade sets, accurate measurements are especially important because the set may include only 10 tips.
Fit Tips
What If I Am Between Sizes?
If your nail measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size. A larger press-on nail tip can usually be gently filed along the sides for a better fit.
Avoid choosing a size that is too small. A small tip may not cover your natural nail properly and may create pressure, discomfort, or shorter wear time.
Please measure carefully before ordering, especially for handmade, semi-handmade, custom, or personalized nail sets.
Important Notice
Please Measure Before Ordering
Everyone’s natural nail width is different. For the best fit, please measure each nail carefully and compare your measurements with the size chart before placing your order.
We are not responsible for sizing issues caused by incorrect measurements or wrong size selection by the customer. For hygiene reasons, opened, used, applied, or handled press-on nail sets may not be eligible for return or exchange due to sizing issues.
Quick FAQ
Size Guide Questions
Do I need to measure for machine-made sets?
Usually, machine-made sets include 24 or 30 tips, so you can choose the best-fitting tip for each finger. Measuring is still helpful, but not always required.
Do I need to measure for handmade sets?
Yes. Handmade and semi-handmade sets usually include 10 tips, so you should choose XS, S, M, or L based on your nail measurements.
Can I file the press-on nails?
Yes. If a tip is slightly too wide, you can gently file the sides for a better fit. Avoid excessive filing, especially on detailed nail art.
What if my two hands are different sizes?
This is normal. Please measure both hands carefully. For custom orders, provide the size or measurement for each finger if requested.
